In California, Adult Education is offered by both K-12 Adult Schools and Community Colleges. Courses in these programs are sometimes distinguished from other courses because they are college preparatory, career technical, secondary, or elementary courses for adults.

The Monterey Adult School is a place for people to come for a chance to acquire the skills and knowledge to be successful in today's world. This may mean becoming more employable, more able to successfully participate in community college or university, or trade school, and/or better able to assist their children in their academic progress.

The Del Monte R.O.P./Adult Education Service Center offers day and evening classes in Marina, Seaside and Monterey, Calif. It offers classes in the English as a Second Language program, Spanish in the workplace and computer applications.
